Key Connector #2

Learning what they want, when they want, and how they want.

HASHTAGS
Hashtags are a great way to explore and filter the the social media world to find information on topics that you need or want to learn more about. I have used hashtags to find a lot of information about history for my classroom on many occasions.

TWITTER CHATS
I have been a part of twitter chats since we started using Twitter...mainly BTC twitter chats that we hold a couple of times a year. I am personally more of a twitter chat reader. I like to read the responses, but sometimes I find some information that I can use in my classroom.

What Connected Educators do Differently: Key Connector 1

Finally got my blog for ch 1.  Had to create an entirely new blog because my last blog account no longer works.  That being said, this was a very interesting chapter.  It really shows the power of using Twitter and other social media to not only develop a PLN, but to find different resources for your classroom.  I have to admit I am more of a lurker than poster.  This is true with all my social media platforms.  I'm just not comfortable with pointing out what I do in my class, because I know what works for me, may not work for others, and I don't want to come across as self-absorbed or narcissistic.  I know some will not agree with my feelings, but those are my feelings.  I am also a talker rather than a writer.  I love to converse and chat with people.  I like to observe the verbal and non-verbal feedback from my audience.  I know I can refine, or alter my point based on the the back-and-forth discussion.  I just don't have the same feeling with written communication.  I will however, keep an open mind!
